Check it out: STARTING STRENGTH: THE KEY TO POWER SPORTS
Baseball and Cricket players listen up: if you’ve already got skills the fastest way to up your game is get stronger. This goes for all athletes, actually. Elevated strength immediately takes preexisting skills to a whole new level. AJ Ramos deadlifted his way right into the All-Star game. The physical key to effective throwing and batting is starting strength.
Starting Strength is a percentage of your Maximum Strength. This is why a gain in max strength normally immediately converts into on-field performance improvement. For some highly trained athletes, some transmutative work might need to be done to convert barbell max strength gains into sport specific starting strength gains. This can be done with reactive barbell lifts, jumps, med ball throws, hanging cleans and snatches, etc. It looks like for AJ, his max strength work is converting directly to sport specific strength with just regular practice.
Regardless, the premise is simple; you do everything better when you’re stronger.
